Reviews
While the location may seem remote, the Southside provides a refreshing reprieve from the congestion and rush of downtown Kowloon and Central. We enjoyed the morning walks along the lovely Aberdeen promenade and waterfront.
The three rooms our family were assigned are compact but very clean and most of what we needed were there so we have no complaints in that aspect. The complimentary snacks and beverages are a nice touch and so was the latte bar in the common lounge where our boys spent much of their free time.
When the reception found out it was my wife’s birthday, they sent her a dessert with a card, which was very nice of them. Check in and check out was relatively smooth.
I was taken aback by the filthy hallways and thought once housekeeping arrives in the morning, it will be cleaner but no it wasn’t at the time I was checking out at 2pm.
The bedroom also has debris in the floor, hole the bedding and rusty stains in the bathroom. Street noise does transfer into the room and walls are quit thin, so if you are looking to sleep in, some earbuds may do you good
Checkin was cold, I didn’t feel welcomed. Heck, was told that Marriott Bonvoy benefits did not apply at this property as they are a boutique hotel. I was offered a fridge with cold drinks as my welcome gift
I explained that my flight was later at night and will need the latest checkout possible and was granted a 2pm checkout. I was awakened around noon to tell me that checkout was at noon and I told the person that I was granted 2pm checkout and will be departing the room then. Upon checkout, I was happy they were able to help store my bags while I explored the city a bit more.
No upgrades, breakfast or elite benefits were offered during my one night stay
IMO, not a good chain/property for the Marriott brand
The BEST hotel AND THE BEST SERVICE in town!
You can order takeout, eat at the bar or outside on the patio at TQM. Also, on the ground floor is a warmly lit and friendly receptionist. The Lobby floor has a spacious lounging area, self-service beverage counter, and lots of photogenic area with neon lights setting. We stayed at one of the themed suites: Bohemian Rhapsody with hygge package. Well appointed rooms with a 90s music era boutique aesthetic. All the staffs have such a down-to-earth personality and was very accommodating. The (social) happy hours are from 3-7pm, their Winter cocktails menu is off the chart! We ordered their Mulled wine and Irish coffee before having our Tacos dinner night.
The hotel sits on an oblique corner of an industrial area. The interior is modern and voguish, a trendy and bohemian presentation with original exposed brick, vintage 90s vinyl soundtracks, and witty quotes. This truly felt like a vacation while it is also a great spot to wind down for a group after work/a bonding weekend getaway! We shall be back soon to enjoy amazing service again.
Me and my family decided to stay at this hotel due to the decent price and because it's close to the train station, you'd expect a 4+ star hotel to be a great hotel to stay at but I was wrong. Some examples are the bathroom/shower, the hair dryer, the laundry room, etc. The bathroom had rust in the corners, the hairdryer was also rusty, and wall plugs in the room didn't work and neither did some of the lights. Customer service was good but wasn't very helpful with most issues we had. If I were to give any pros to this hotel I'd say the customer service is good and its location is in a great spot but everything else didn't do it for us.
The best hotel we’ve been to in HK. Extremely clean, the rooms are really nicely decorated and enjoyable. Big tv scream, Apple TV and Alexa in the room. Really great gym with punching bag, treadmill, free weights and a cable machine. Really nice view, the restaurant is also really good and there is a big lounge with free tea and coffee and it’s really pleasant to work there. MTR 2 min walk away and 10 min ride to Admiralty. Staff is extremely nice and helpful. Can only highly recommend, we loved it !
With the MTR station in 4 minutes walking distance, this hotel becomes unbelievably convenient to stay. Hotel's facilities are basic but enough. L3 was so friendly that you can stay there to read a book or watch a movie on your mobile; coffee, tea and soft drinks are handy and free. Some rooms will be a bit too hot with the heat of sun during day and window tinting should be considered. Shower door should be maintained on regular basis since one of the rooms we are staying have water leaks. Front desk staffs are very friendly that they greet you everytime you walk in/out, however, room service staffs were a bit behind possibly due to staff shortage. The last credit should be given to the self service laundromat that clothes can be washed/dried free after our ten days stay. Anyway, the experience of staying in this hotel was not bad.
The hotel is modern with style and the staff are competent.
Regarding the room, no much place for luggage or to store your clothes (hardware concept).
The good:
- location is convenient
- hotel decor generally is quite interesting
- staff are friendly and helpful
- the komune (lounge / working area) is quite decent (see below for the bad)
The bad:
- the design of the room is not really practical, there isn’t much space for one to put things on (phone, wallet, stuff), and there is only an open rack (small) as a closet. The nightstand rack is so small and tiny that just putting a phone on it is already very tight. There is clearly space for a larger surface for night stand so it is likely a designed flaw or cheap cost issue
- no chair in the room and there will be no “desk/table) that one can put their iPad/laptop on to work a bit (so everytime if you want to sit down and work needs to go to the share public work area)
- music plays throughout the hotel is good choice BUT is way too loud in the elevators and the public sharing work area. If you would like to have a “normal conversation” or doing calls/online meeting then it is just plain impossible to do so with the noise.
- room’s AC (not only my room but generally rooms in this hotel) is very loud due to some design issues of its ducts. If you are a sensitive sleeper definitely needs to put on ear plugs and even that when the ducts make the “wheeze” noise once in a while you would still hear it.
